As you go away

I remained watching the lonely way
Through the dry leaves as you go away,
You looked not back nor made reply
Days passed by and by;

I waited for thee
A whole night long,
If you come to me
Even in the dawn.

But I know not why
Wait ended not,
May be friend
You forgot,-

The days we passed
The song we sang,
All those ended
In a short span;

I thought one day,
You would come along,
Though the same lone path
After a short sojourn;

One tear fell, then became dry
Void inside me, like the vast blue sky,
Asked so many questions in deep silence
That echoed back to me;
You never came, you never knew,-
I remained waiting for thee.
